Can I lay the flooring I have just purchased immediately after it is delivered?
We recommend that hardwood flooring should be allowed to acclimatise for between 48 and 72 hours. The packages should be opened and left at room temperature during this period.

My customer has under floor heating and would like to fit hardwood flooring. Is there a particular type of flooring I should recommend?
We would recommend you give them details on the NovoLoc, Next Step and Boen ranges of ENGINEERED flooring. It is possible to install all as  floating floors on under floor heating, provided that the correct site conditions are fulfilled. We can provide you with more detailed information relating to different types of under floor heating on request. Just contact us for more information.

My customer wants to know how best to look after his hardwood flooring once I have finished installing it
Your customer should use a dry mop or a vacuum cleaner once a week or more often to eliminate solid particles that might scratch the flooring. They should not use a wet mop or cloth, as water can seriously damage any kind of wood. Protectors should be used to prevent scratching between the legs of furniture and the flooring, and when moving heavy furniture a piece of carpet should be placed face down between the furniture and the flooring. For more information, read our page on care and maintenance.

Are wood floors cost effective compared to cheaper alternative materials?
Yes. According to a survey conducted by the National Wood Flooring Association (www.woodfloors.org/consumer), estate agents claim that wood flooring holds its value better and that houses with wood floors sell faster. The same survey showed that 58% of estate agents believed that houses with wood floors fetch higher prices than carpeted homes.

Is hardwood durable enough for high traffic commercial areas as well as domestic areas?
Yes. Hardwood floors can take a lot of wear and tear, provided they are installed and maintained properly. That’s why many shops, gyms and museums are fitted with hardwood floors. It may be necessary to sand and re-seal a hardwood floor. A hardwood floor should last approximately 50 years if cared for properly.
